The teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was unstoppable against Girona, netting a brilliant brace in Barcelona's commanding 4-1 victory over last season's third-placed side. Barcelona may have anticipated a tough challenge, given Girona's Champions League qualification, but Yamal’s inspired performance led to a dominant display.
The breakthrough came at the half-hour mark when Yamal dispossessed defender David Lopez at the edge of the box, turned, and calmly slotted home. Just six minutes later, he added his second, curling a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, threading it through several Girona defenders.
