Former US President Donald Trump expressed gratitude for the "thoughts and prayers" he received after what the FBI described as an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
"It was by God's grace alone that the unthinkable was averted," Trump shared on his Truth Social platform, urging Americans to come together and "not allow evil to prevail."
He extended his condolences to the victims and their families, stating, "We pray for the recovery of those injured and honor the memory of the citizen tragically killed."
Looking ahead, Trump said he was eager to address the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, where he is expected to be formally nominated for the upcoming presidential election.
"In this moment, more than ever, we must stand united and show our true American spirit—resilient and strong," he said.
